Choosing the correct dosage of Bicar®Z for optimum efficiency

In order to ensure its effectiveness, the quantity of Bicar®Z used must be adapted to the physiological needs of the animals.

  • For ruminants, Bicar®Z is added directly to the ration, and the animals also have access to an unlimited supply if they wish. For lactating dairy cows, the recommended dose is 250 g of Bicar®Z per day and per cow. During high-risk periods (heat stress), the dose may be increased to 400 g per day and per cow.
During diet transition (new corn silage, start of the pasture season), the recommended dose is often greater than 1% of dry matter, i.e. a minimum of 250 to 300 g/day for a lactating dairy cow weighing 650 kg.

  • For young fattening bovines, the recommended dose is 150 g per day, with continuous feed access.

  • For goats and milk ewes, the recommended dose is 20 g per day and per animal, with continuous feed access.

  • For fattening lambs, the recommended dose is 1% of the feed intake, with continuous feed access.

Swine and poultry

  • For swine and poultry, the recommended dose is 0.5% to 1% of the feed intake, with continuous feed access.
