Dairy cattle can show severe decrease in milk yield due to heat stress effects

When the temperature is above 20°C with high level of humidity, cows feel already the effects of heat stress. Naturally cows reduce the quantity of feed ingested and breathe more.

By reducing the quantity of feed, cows reduce the rumination and as a consequence the quantity naturally bringing.

Moreover, by breathing more, the CO2 released increases and so the sodium bicarbonate needed to maintain the pH increase also. All this quantity of Bicar used to maintain the blood pH is no more available to maintain the pH in the rumen. 

That’s why it’s very important to give regularly Bicar®Z to the cows in lactating period.
