Ruminants: calculate the DCAB of your ration

Ruminants have varying dietary requirements according to their physiological stage of development. A mineral analysis of the ration (sodium, potassium, chloride and sulfur) allows its dietary cation-anion balance to be established (DCAB). A ration whose DCAB is too low (increased risk of acidosis) can be effectively corrected by adding Bicar®Z: Adding 1% Bicar®Z to the ration increases the DCAB by 117 mEq/kg.
